History of Software Changes
Linux Subsystem (Root File System) — Software Part Numbers 6010-0042-000 and 6010-0044-000
Version | Changes |
5.70 | Patches applied to correct Shellshock vulnerabilities. Please see Field Service Bulletin FSB140926-02. RECOMMENDATION: Please upgrade unless you have secured the network port on your Meridian per the instructions in the Bulletin. NOTE 1: If you are upgrading and the current version in your unit is 5.50 or less, then please read this first. |
5.67 | Minor bugs fixed in the PTP option. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade unless you have the PTP Option. |
5.64 | 1. Fixed bug where sometimes, at first power-up after being shipped from factory, the NTP daemon would take a longer time than normal to indicate lock status. 2. Fixed bug in HTTP interface where it reports NTP Stratum 16 when the actual Stratum is any level greater than 2. 3. Fixed bug introduced at version 5.60 where the ntp daemon continues to serve Stratum 1 time after receiver subsystem goes unlocked for an extended period. 4. Dual power supply option: Added ability to inhibit Alarm LED and Alarm Open-Collector Output from going active if one of the power supplies fails or is not powered. New commands are PWRFLTMASK and SETPWRFLTMASK. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade unless one of these items is important to you. |
5.63 | Fixed minor bug - erroneous SNMP traps when NTP is flooded with packets. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade unless this is important to you. |
5.62 | 1. PTPv2 Option: Removed PTP "Port State = Listen" which could prevent the clock from becoming "Port State = Master". 2. Fixed polling fault that may occur when the unit is powered up the very first time only. RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if one of the above items is important to you. |
5.61 | 1. PTP Option: Fixed mishandling of packet sequence numbers when packets are dropped. 2. Fixed bug where password is displayed when upgrading firmware using the Web Interface. 3. Fixed bug that prevents you from upgrading firmware using the Web Interface and the "Upgrade From Local File" option. Because of this flaw in your current version you must upgrade using the Web Interface and the "Upgrade From FTP Server" option, or by using the command line interface. 4. Fixed bug introduced with change to NTP distribution 4.2.6p3 where ntpd would terminate if user did not configure network settings. RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if you have the PTP Option or use the Web Interface. |
5.60 | 1. Updated NTP distribution version to 4.2.6p3 which solves the vulnerability below (item #5) and also improves timing jitter performance. 2. Added version 2 for PTP/IEEE-1588. This only pertains to those who have purchased the PTP Option. 3. Fixed network domain name bug for domains with more than one '.' in them. 4. Fixed rare Secure Shell permissions bug. 5. Workaround for ntpq/ntpdc remote query vulnerability. Did this even though the updated NTP distribution should solve the problem. RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if one of the above items is important to you. |
5.50 | 1. Added capability for PTP/IEEE-1588 Option that allows setting of multicast time-to-live (ttl) variable. 2. Added capability to edit and view the Domain Name Server (DNS) via the front-panel keypad/display. 3. Fixed a bug related to erroneous SNMP FaultStatus2 traps. 4. Fixed a bug in the "gpsrefpos" command which inhibited showing reference position in "unknown" and "dynamic" modes. 5. Fixed a bug in the SNMP MIB related to the plug-in options. 6. Added Web Interface (HTTPS) for monitoring status of all functions and for upgrading software. This new capability is only for units with Software Number 6010-0044-000. The Web Interface is disabled for units with Software Number 6010-0042-000 (because these are older units and the required hardware is not available). RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if one of the above items is important to you. |
5.11 | Fixed a bug related to the gsysuser login. If you are having trouble logging in to your unit then upgrading your software will not correct the problem. Please see this Field Service Bulletin. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |
5.10 | New option added to the product line: Precision Time Protocol (PTP/IEEE-1588). RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |
5.00 | Added software support for new features: Telecom Clock Output Module and Dual Power Supplies. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |

Now the unit will go to the time display 30 seconds after the startup sequence has finished. 2. Added additional format selections to the Serial Time Output Option. 3. Changed TFOM value to be in the range of 9-3 (was 9-4). A TFOM of 3 indicates synchronization accuracy to within 100 nanoseconds. 4. Added CRC checking on the time information going from the GPS Subsystem to the Linux Subsystem. This will further bulletproof the timekeeping ability of the product and prevent any possible time jumps in the rare case (seen only once) of a hardware glitch on the circuit board. RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if you would like the features listed in #2 or #4. |
3.02 | 1. To enhance SSH security, the default was changed from accepting versions 1 and 2 protocol connections to only accepting version 2 protocol connection. Version 1 is considered insecure. 2. Fixed a bug wherein the NTP Server continued to serve time for too long after loss-of-lock to GPS synchronization signal. RECOMMENDATION: Please upgrade. |
3.01 | 1. Fixed a bug related to the AM/PM local time display. 2. Added 0.1 meter resolution capability to the console "setgpsrefpos" script. RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if you use local time 12-hour mode for your display. |
3.00 | 1. Added ability to change TFOM level at which alarm occurs. 2. Added ability to set optional Serial Time Output format via front-panel keypad/display. 3. Added ability to mask off certain alarms - the Antenna Fault and the Signal Loss Fault. 4. Added more selections for the optional Programmable TTL Output. 5. Added alternative Time Display that shows the time with Day-Of-Year as: DOY:HH:MM:SS. 6. Fixed a bug related to unprivileged user in cntpstat/gntpstat reporting. RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if you care about one of the items above. |
2.63 | Added capability to discipline new oscillator type. Irrelevant for previously shipped products. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |
2.62 | 1. Fixed a bug related to changing DST information via the front-panel display. 2. Fixed a bug when entering positive time zone offsets via console port command "timemodeconfig". RECOMMENDATION: Upgrade if you are in a positive time zone (east of Greenwich Mean Time) or you use the Daylight Savings Time (DST) feature. |
2.61 | Changes not relevant to the Meridian. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |
2.60 | Major upgrade with updated versions of all applications, utilities and shared libraries typically installed in an embedded Linux-based system. Please click here for IMPORTANT information: RECOMMENDATION: Please upgrade. NOTE: This software release is IPv6-capable. IPv6 is in the experimental stage but some of our customers want it now. In order to enable IPv6 operation you must perform a second upgrade operation to replace your IPV4-only kernel. If you want IPv6 operation then click here to download the IPv6-capable Linux kernel. |
2.05 | Added capability to discipline new oscillator type. Irrelevant for current products. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |
2.04 | Added capability to discipline new oscillator type. Irrelevant for current products. RECOMMENDATION: No need to upgrade. |
