EndRun Technologies Announces Release of PTP/IEEE-1588 Version 2

Santa Rosa, CA, August 30, 2011 - EndRun Technologies, a manufacturer of time and frequency equipment, today announced the availability of the IEEE 1588-2008 (PTPv2) option for the Meridian, Tempus LX and Unison product lines.  Adding PTPv2 transforms the functionality of these products into the next generation IEEE-1588 Grandmaster Clock.

Enhancing the capability of the current products from PTPv1 to PTPv2 allows for a seamless migration to the new capabilities that PTPv2 offers.  Just as with PTPv1, IEEE 1588-2008 is easily manageable and auto configures multiple Grandmaster Clocks using the Best Master Clock algorithm (BMC).  This enhancement supports the IEEE-1588 default profile, multicast messages, and peer-to-peer (P2P) or end-to-end (E2E) delay mechanisms.

Existing customers with PTPv1 can migrate to PTPv2 for FREE by performing a simple software upgrade.  Customers with an existing server can purchase PTP and install a software option key for activation.  In either case, customers can select Version 1 (IEEE-1588-2002) or Version 2 (IEEE-1588-2008).

"Several markets have been combining NTP and PTP as their time synchronization technology." says Michael Korreng, a Senior Design Engineer at EndRun Technologies.  "By offering NTP and PTP in a single time server we are able to provide synchronization to Wide Area Networks (WANs) with NTP and Local Area Networks (LANs) with PTP from a single reference source.  This new PTPv2 option, coupled with existing features, allows our customers to configure the clock to their particular requirements".

The IEEE-1588-2008 (PTPv2) option in the Tempus LX / Unison Network Time Servers and the Meridian TimeBase is available now.  Many other products and options are also available.  Call 1-877-749-3878 for more information or go to www.endruntechnologies.com.
